The Los Glaciares National Park is an area of exceptional natural beauty, with rugged, towering mountains and numerous glacial lakes, including Lake Argentino, which is 160 km long. At its farthest end, three glaciers meet to dump their effluvia into the milky grey glacial water, launching massive igloo icebergs into the lake with thunderous splashes.

Home to the largest ice mantle outside Antarctica, Greenland, and Iceland, this park offers an outstanding example of glaciation processes shaping mountainous landscapes.

The Perito Moreno Glacier was one of the rare glaciers in the world that remained in a state of dynamic equilibrium during the late 20th and early 21st centuries, as its mass gain and loss occurred at nearly equal rates.
